Thoracentesis
Posted on: December 21, 2023 *Updated on: May 27, 2024Thoracentesis is a medical procedure employed to gather evidence of pleural mesothelioma through a needle biopsy.
During the procedure, a small incision is made in the chest, through which a tube is inserted to access the pleura or lung cavity. Doctors then extract fluid from this area. Additionally, this technique serves as a pain-relief surgery for late-stage pleural mesothelioma.
